ACS has released the ACOS7 and ACOS10 Combi SDK which offers Chinese language support

ACS introduces a software development kit (SDK) for the ACOS7 and ACOS10 Combi cards. The SDK’s technical documents, demo application, and smart card and reader tool offer Chinese language support, in addition to English.

“More and more countries are embracing smart card technology,” says Gilbert Leung, vice president for sales and marketing of ACS. “China, specifically, released a remarkable number of smart cards for use in banking, transport, and other areas. In connection to this, and to the increasing prevalence of the Chinese language globally, we have decided to incorporate Chinese language support for this SDK.”

The 2011–2015 plan of China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS) states that China’s government has issued around 450 million integrated circuit (IC) cards and is expected to issue around eight million more by 2015, just for banking.

ACS Launches ACR31 EasySwipe Application for iOS

Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS) has launched the ACR31 EasySwipe application, which displays information from bank cards swiped through the ACR31 Magnetic Stripe Card Reader. Supporting iOS 3.1 or higher , this application can show a banking card’s number, expiry date, service code and discretional data.

While the application is developed for demonstration purposes only, (and thus may not be used for actual banking transactions, purchases, etc.), it shows the functionality of ACR31 Magnetic Stripe Card Reader, and provides developers with cues when creating applications of their own using ACR31.

Developing a mobile application to be used with the ACR31 can enable the following benefits:

Mobility
The ACR31 Magnetic Stripe Card Reader is simply plugged into a smartphone or tablet. Used with a corresponding application, the ACR31 enables transactions anytime, anywhere.

Security
Data accessed via the ACR31 will be encrypted when sending into the mobile device, and therefore not be accessible to unauthorized parties.

Convenience
Because magnetic stripe card data will be accessed via smartphones or tablets—which most users already own—the time it takes for an end user to become familiar with the ACR31 is cut down. Downloading an app and plugging the ACR31 into his/ her smartphone or tablet is also much easier compared to setting up a comprehensive Point-of-Sales (POS) terminal.

Here are a few screen shots of the ACR31 EasySwipe application:

ACS will be coming out with an Android version of the EasySwipe application. Stay tuned for updates!

ACS Launches Online Demo Webpage and Loyalty and E-Purse Demo

Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS) has recently put up demo.acs.com.hk , which shows some demo applications that use ACS devices. The first application featured on this page is the e-Purse and Loyalty Demo, which shows users how to create cashier and customer cards, shop for products, top up e-Purse cards, and convert loyalty points to e-Purse value. This is for users who want to come up with point of sale–related applications and loyalty programs.

ACS has developed the online demo webpage to improve its support package for developers. Through sample web applications that are comprehensive and on-demand, developers who want to integrate ACS devices into their applications can learn how to do so anytime and anywhere, even without an ACS representative.

Demos are geared towards users who already have ACS devices.

How to Access ACS’s Online Demo Webpage

  • Go to demo.acs.com.hk.
  • Another way to access the online demo webpage is through www.acs.com.hk. Users simply have to go to Support and Downloads, and then click Online Demo.
